Stay in control

I’m excited about this week’s Ultimate Transformation Moment. As we’ve just come through one of our (big) holiday celebrations, Thanksgiving, and we’re heading towards Christmas and New Years, self-control is the order of the day.

What I like to do with my clients at this time of year is to have them take a personal assessment and evaluation. It’s a great time to do this, because you can see what happens to your body system and health and wellness plan when you take in high-calorie foods. You may have felt a difference in your body system.

Now, it’s a great time to self-evaluate. When you think of self-evaluation, I want you to think of evaluating your recent actions, your performance, the habits you currently have.

Reflect, and then I want you to match these recent habits with your ultimate goal. Whether it’s health and wellness; whether it’s weight loss, whether you want to run a marathon, or whether you want to maintain your spiritual meditation in prayer everyday or just make proper choices in nutrition, take an honest look in these areas. Then determine whether the existing habits you have match or at least lead you toward your ultimate goal.

Answer these two questions: 1) Of my current habits, what do I need to eliminate right now in order to reach my ultimate goal? 2) What habits do I need to create in order to reach my ultimate goal?

Ask those questions of yourself, and then honestly evaluate and answer. Whatever your answer is in those two areas, make a commitment to making the change within a set timeframe. I suggest a minimum of 21 days of consistent performance of something. It could be 21 straight days, or it could be 3 or 4 days per week. Whatever you determine is a consistent time frame. Keep this commitment to yourself, and create a new habit. Your commitment to this new habit should continue as long as you like. It doesn’t matter, but now it’s time to then commit to what that new habit is.

Once you’ve committed to that new habit, it’s about doing. Don’t even think about cheating yourself out of your commitment. This is also a great time, because we’re headed into the New Year. I know people are thinking, “We’re going to be eating” (and possibly drinking), but it’s a great way for you to put yourself in a place of self-mastery. Ultimately, what we want is to have control over our choices.

Now, you’re on your own new cycle for your own self-awareness and personal greatness and this leads you to your ultimate success. And when you come through these holidays, one part of the evaluation is to celebrate your achievement.

Don’t settle. Continue to strive for your internal greatness and it will be yours. That’s our Ultimate Transformations Moment. Peace and be more.
