LOS ANGELES, Calif.–Eminem and Lady Antebellum each earned five nominations today to lead the pack of hopefuls for the American Music Awards, while Justin Bieber collected four.
The 38th annual AMA ceremony will be held Nov. 21 at the Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles.
Eminem and Bieber, in addition to competing for best male pop/rock artist and pop/rock album, were nominated for artist of the year, along with Ke$ha, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry.
Lady Antebellum was nominated for best band, duo or group in both the pop/rock and country categories. The trio is also nominated for best adult contemporary artist.
Winners will be determined by online voting at www.amavote.com and ama.abc.com.
Fans can also vote for the T-Mobile Breakthrough Artist Award via T-Mobile text messaging, or at ama.abc.com. The first round of voting began today and continues through Oct. 22, winnowing the list of nominees to four. Voting on the final four nominees will begin Oct. 25 and continue during the live telecast of the awards ceremony Nov. 21.
Nominees for breakthrough artist are B.o.B, Bieber, Taio Cruz, Jason Derulo, Ke$ha, Lady Antebellum, Travie McCoy and Mike Posner.
Among the artists expected to perform at the ceremony are Bon Jovi, P!nk and Usher.
