YORBA LINDA – A 47-year-old Yorba Linda woman was arrested on suspicion of stabbing her 48-year-old ex-boyfriend and roommate with an ice pick in a church parking lot, Brea police reported.

The victim was leaving a meeting at Messiah Lutheran Church at 4861 Liverpool St. in Yorba Linda about 9:40 p.m. Monday when he was attacked from behind in his 2006 Mercedes-Benz convertible, said Sgt. Bill Smyser of the Brea police department.

His ex-girlfriend, Elizabeth Cuevas Villanueva, was in the backseat waiting for him, Smyser said.

The man was stabbed multiple times in the head and the shoulders with an ice pick, Smyser said.

He tried put his car in park, and then punched the gas, slamming into a tree, Smyser said.

The victim managed to get out of the car as Villanueva ran away, but police were able to find her near Abbey Lane and Liverpool Street, Smyser said.

The two had stopped dating about four months ago, but still lived together, Smyser said.

Villanueva was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide, felony domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon and brandishing a weapon, Smyser said.

Investigators had not yet determined a motive for the attack, Smyser said.
