The National Dance Day Flash Mob (flash mob: a group of people show up at a location and do a seemingly random or pointless act, in this case dancing) is official and will be held at 10 a.m. on July 31 (location will be disclosed as close to performance day as possible to maintain the sense of surprise and spontaneity).

Dancers, dance fans, and people who just want to be a part of something amazing are encouraged to learn the routine that has been created by renowned Hip Hop choreographers Tabitha and Napolean (a.k.a NappyTabs), which can be seen on YouTube and at www.ourweekly.com. People are encouraged to hold rehearsals on their own. The first official rehearsal will be held on July 25 at Weddington Park, 10844 Acama Drive in North Hollywood about 7 p.m.

The routine has been broken down into eight easy-to-learn steps so that all people (no matter their dance background) can participate. At the official rehearsal, flash mob choreographers Staci and Conroe will add more to the routine.

For up to the minute updates on the flash mob details, visit http://www.meetup.com/Flash-Mob-America-SoCal/calendar/14083066/. Once you RSVP you will be notified about all updates via e-mail.

Even if you aren’t able to be a part of this flash mob, be encouraged to create your own. The goal of National Dance Day is to get people across the country dancing, getting exercise, and creating joy.

The official Dance Day flash mob will be held in New York’s Time Square as members of Congress and “So You Think You Can Dance” executive producer Nigel Lythgoe lead the nation in a day of dance.
