During the recent American Cancer Society Relay for Life event in Baldwin Hills, Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas (pictured above in white with cancer victims taking the traditional “Survivor’s Lap”) unveiled the only Federal Drug Administration approved mobile dedicated Breast MRI System designed specifically for 3-D bilateral breast imaging. The machine will travel to different events such as Relay for Life; this annual 24-hour walkathon features teams of people formed by local businesses, community groups, families and friends walking to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, to remember loved ones lost, and to fight back against the disease. Each year, more than 3.5 million individuals in communities across the nation participate in the event.
