June is heating up the silver screen with much anticipated films some of which have a touch of controversy. Here are just a few of the films that promise to entertain and thrill you.
And don’t forget to take a gander at Jennifer Hudson’s new look.

In theaters Friday
“Sex and the City 2.” The much awaited movie splashes onto the big screen ushering in hot summer hits for hot summer days.

“The King of Persia: The Sands of Time” debuts Friday amid controversy because of the casting of three of the lead characters; White actors are playing leading roles clearly defined as Middle Eastern characters. Jake Gyllenhaal of Swedish Jewish-American heritage stars in the leading role.

Friday, June 4
“Get Him to the Greek” is the epitome of ‘sex, drugs and ‘rock ‘n roll’. This film is simply outrageous. Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs stars as a record executive out to nab a has-been rock star, Russell Brand, for a performance at the Greek Theater. A young executive is sent to bring him from London to L.A. by way of New York. Drugs, sex, and personal conflicts threaten to bring it all crashing down.

“Splice” with Academy award-winning Adrien Brody in the lead, you know you’re in for some great acting. It’s the story of two scientists who develop a animal-human hybrid that threatens mankind.

Friday, June 11
“The A-Team.” Liam Neeson heads America’s favorite bad boys as they attempt to clear their names and kick some butts.

“The Karate Kid.” Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan team up for action, drama and payback; this time China is the backdrop and bullies will meet their match … that is, after a lot of grueling training.

“Toy Story 3.” The gang is back. Buzz, Woody, and the rest of the gang try to stay together, when Andy heads off to college.

Friday, June 25
“Grown Ups.” Chris Rock joins an all-star cast as five boyhood friends get together over the 4th of July weekend. Get ready to laugh.

“Knight and Day.” Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz play a fugitive couple, living the high-life with deadly intentions.

Wednesday, June 30
“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” Okay you “Twilight Fans,” Bella is forced  to choose between Edward and Jacob.

Jennifer Hudson’s new look
I don’t know about you but it’s hard for me to tell how much weight Jennifer Hudson has lost on her Weight Watchers commercial. But in the new issue of People magazine, you get an eyeful. Hudson says she’s “in the best shape” of her life, slimming down from a size 16 to size 6.
According to AOL Black Voices, the actress’ newfound weight loss is also due in part to her forthcoming role as Nelson Mandela’s ex-wife in the biopic “Winnie.” The 28-year-old said she was determined to lose her post-pregnancy weight, noting that she would do “whatever it takes to morph into a character.”
