Three men were arrested in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old woman who was shot while standing outside a South Los Angeles apartment building, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) announced last week.

Chenoby Russell, 19, Deanthony Miller, 19, and James Evans, 18, were taken into custody on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and held on $3 million bail each.

The fatal shooting occurred March 27 in the 900 block of West 68th Street, when Kendall Williams, a male companion, and a group of friends were standing in front of an apartment building talking.

A vehicle pulled up and a man in the front passenger seat opened fire. Williams and her companion were both hit, according to the LAPD.

Williams died shortly after her arrival at the hospital. The male victim was treated for a gunshot wound to his leg.

LAPD officers actually witnessed the shooting and pursued the car toward 66th and Kansas streets but the suspects fled the car and were able to escape. However, the officers were able to confiscate the car and the weapons used in the attack, which is likely to have led to the men’s arrest, but that has not been verified.

The LAPD is still in need of individuals with any additional information about the incident to come forward by contacting Criminal Gang/Homicide Group at (213) 382-9460.
