Today’s ultimate transformation moment delves into a simple word–choice.
Choice, defined simply, is the right, power, or chance to choose an option. Choice means that there is abundance of variety from which to choose.
The word choice carries a great deal of power, and all of us have access to that power because it comes from within. Once upon a time, Brother Malcolm X said, “It’s not what they call you but what you answer to.” I interpret that statement to mean that every moment in our day, we have the power to choose how we define ourselves, how we define our communities, how we define our future. We do not have to elect to have others provide us with these definitions.
When you define who you are in all aspects of your life, you must first make a choice as to how you view your individual self. Choice is a power that is with you in every moment of your day, every day of your life. We cannot express this power, if we do not possess it. The only way by which we may secure possession of power is when we become conscious of the power of choice, and we learn that all power is within ourselves.
Brother Malcolm is saying that we can choose love over hate; health over sickness; hope over despair; abundance over lack. We can choose to participate instead of spectate. We can choose to be responsible for our individual selves and our community or choose to wait for someone to save us and save our communities.
In all areas of life, we definitely have a choice. As we know, the way we affect our environment is by making choices that are beneficial to ourselves and those around us.
In regards to our fitness, we have the ability to choose to exercise, three to five days a week, for 45 minutes to an hour. We can choose to make healthier choices in nutrition. Choose to eat more fruits, vegetables, lean protein and to hydrate. Choose to get more rest and spend more time on focused positive thought.
So, let’s assess ourselves in this moment in regards to our health and wellness. Wherever we are in this moment, is the result of previous thoughts and choices. If the desire in this moment is for your life to be different, choose differently. We cannot continue to make the same choices, and expect different results. Community, health and wellness are in our midst. Let’s all choose well, because the choice is ours.
That’s our ultimate transformations moment. Peace and be more.
