The FIRST Robotics competition combines sports with science and technology by using team-building skills to teach kids how to create program robots to do specific tasks and race against other teams inventions. This year’s state regional match-ups were held March 25-27 at the Long Beach Arena, and Raytheon engineers are among the volunteers who teamed with students from various schools around the region like Verbum Dei High School (pictured here) to help them create and assemble their robot. Other local competitors included Antelope Valley High School, California Academy of Mathematics and Science, City Honors High School, Crenshaw High School, Culver City High School, Foshay Learning Center, King Drew High School and Manual Arts High School.
