“This here ain’t no romance; it’s an urban erotic tale, pay back is a b–, and Pearl’s determined not to fail.”
Those are the first words of “Unzipped,” the newest urban drama by Noire (Published by One World Trade Paperback 2010), and from that first line, the story draws you in with promises of revenge, money, drugs and sex.
Pearl and Diamond Baines are the too sexy, too sassy twin daughters of Irish Baines, Harlem’s most notorious ex-gansta. Irish has turned his life around and become a rehabilitator of young men in the community; taking them away from the life of drugs and crime, and giving them a second and sometimes even a third chance.
This doesn’t go over so well with the hood’s newest “Head N– In Charge,” Mookie Mason, who has it out for Irish and his whole family. Mookie makes good on his threats to take them all out . . . all but Pearl, the good girl, turned bad girl, turned FBI agent. Now she is hell-bent on getting revenge for the demise of her entire family.
“Unzipped” is a gritty, no-holds bar novel that is a easy read that captures your attention from the very start. It is definitely worth picking up.
