Assemblyman Mike Davis recently honored entertainers Nancy Wilson and Stevie Wonder at the annual Living Legends ceremony, at the California African American Museum.
“Nancy Wilson is one of the last great voices of the golden era. She is to music what rice is to gravy and what ice cream is to apple pie,” Davis said. “Stevie Wonder is the eighth wonder of the world. He is a musician unmatched. His contribution to the world of music has taught each of us the beauty of this art as a powerful form of communication,” Davis said.
Wilson was recognized for five decades of performing that has encompassed musical genre’s ranging from jazz to gospel as well as for her philanthropic work with youth.
In addition to his musical prowess, Wonder was honored for his world-wide humanitarian efforts. The event drew more than 1,000 people, who had an opportunity to hear Chante Moore sing tribute to Wilson and James Ingram do the same for Wonder./Photo courtesy of Assemblyman Mike Davis.
