Pacific Coast Regional (PCR) recently won a designation as a Small Business Administration Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and is offering technical assistance to people interested in starting or growing a business.

PCR is a private, non-profit corporation founded in 1977 to help small business owners become successful members of the Southern California business community. Through contracts with the Federal Government, the State of California, and partnerships with private institutions, PCR provides financial, educational and consulting services. The primary goal is to help the small business owners succeed.

The assistance is available free and offered weekdays by experienced consultants.

What makes the PCR-SBDC unique is that in addition to offering help, the organization has the ability to make direct loans to entrepreneurs.

Guaranteed loans up to $35,000 (PCR concentrates particularly on those in the $7,500 range) are available, and the agency particularly looks for individuals with decent collateral, experience operating a business or in the industry, and who have put cash equity into the business that is equal to at least 50 percent of the amount being borrowed.

To see one of the SBDC counselors, contact PCR at (213) 674-2696 or visit 3255 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 1501 in Los Angeles.
