Los Angeles, CA — Dr. Kathryn Edwards was recently appointed by Assembly Speaker Karen Bass to serve as K-12 Education Chairperson for the 47th Assembly District Education Commission.
The Education Commission is one of four commissions that function as part of Speaker Bass’ People’s Council which serves as an umbrella structure that addresses key issues that affect the 47th District. The three other commissions focus on health, small business and the environment.
Edwards has served on boards and commissions for the City of Los Angeles and the State of California including the California Education Technology Commission and the Los Angeles Committee of Access Conveners. She received her undergraduate degree at Cal State L.A., her M.Ed. from UCLA and her Ph.D. from Claremont Graduate University. She currently works for the Los Angeles County Office of Education as a consultant in the area of assessment and accountability.
