OurWeekly has no formal endorsement of the candidates in the Tuesday, April 21 city election.

Based on the information submitted, or lack thereof, we are recommending that the residents review past performances of incumbents and investigate the challengers as to their involvement in their communities and commitment to the safety and growth of Compton.

As far as the two initiatives, we are recommending that you vote NO on Measure F which would ban the sale of fireworks in the city of Compton.

We strongly suggest continued fire safety education as it relates to the use of fireworks. The sale of these products have been successful fundraisers for churches, clubs, non-profit organizations, etc. During these times of economic strife, these organization will only suffer more.

We support a YES vote on Measure L which updates the city charter to in accordance with current California law.
