Bradley Baker, a renowned vocalist and director, is being featured in “The Glory of Easter” at the Crystal Cathedral, 12141 Lewis St. in Garden Grove. Baker will appear as Simon of Cyrene, in this holiday pageant, a role he has performed for the past 13 years, April 2-12.

A talented baritone, Baker has an array of performance styles ranging from opera and musical theater to R&B and jazz.  He has performed in concert halls and opera houses in more than 25 countries around the world.

He attended USC and the American Center for Musical Theater.  While at USC, he was in the Opera Department’s performance of “La Clamenza di Tito” and “Oedipus Rex.”  His professional performances include “Grease Paint,” “Camelot,” and Un Ballo in “Maschera” with the Los Angeles Music Center Opera.

Baker’s world premiers in operas include “Israel and Costaso,” “Monticello,” “Dream Girls,” “Phantom,” “Nite Club Confidential, ” “Cats,” “Rag Time,” “Big River,”  and “Porgy and Bess” with the Honolulu and San Diego Symphonies. More recently he has appeared in “The Glory of Christmas,” as well as  “The Glory of Easter.”

He has served as director and assistant director for “My Fair Lady,” “Guys and Dolls,” “Treasure Island,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “Into the Woods,” “It’s Raining Cats and Dogs,” “The Hypocrites,” “Daniel,”  and “Judgment.”  The gifted baritone has been a member of the Albert McNeil Jubilee Singers and is currently a member of the Los Angeles Baritones and the Spirit Chorale of Los Angeles.

Baker has enjoyed working with children in the Los Angeles and South Bay area for more than 20 years.  He was the founder, director and producer for WADE, a dance company for underprivileged children in Los Angeles. Currently, he serves as a vocal instructor for Vista del Mar School and Children’s Institute in Los Angeles.

The magnificent set, scenes and music will help dramatize the events surrounding the last week in the life of Jesus Christ. This pageant has been presented for more than 25 years where the Easter story is told with the high-flying angels, 90-feet in the air.

The animals of the story include prancing stallions, geese, pigs, baby goats, a tiger and Roman soldiers on horseback.  Actors portraying the lead roles as Jesus, Pilate, Herod, Mary Magdalene and Mary, the Mother of Jesus support a cast of more than 100.
