Los Angeles, CA — Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca recently told a local news outlet that budget cuts may force the closure of the Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles and perhaps a second detention facility because of an estimated $72 million budget gap.
William T. Fujioka, the county’s chief executive, stated that Baca’s statements were premature.
