Ruby Jones life celebrated

The celebration of the life of Ruby L.W. Davis Jones was held on January 11, in the Sanctuary of Sierra at Inglewood Park Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Jones, associate pastor of Victory Baptist Church, officiated.

Other participants include the Rev. W.E. Jenkins, pastor of Victory; Elder William Hicks of West Angeles Church of God in Christ; Lillie Love, Edith Aubert and Samuel Spann.

Jones, born on Feb. 6, 1916 in Long Leaf, La.,, passed away on January 2. She was one of three children  born to Ruben and Lillie Williams, and was baptized at an early age at the St. Rest Baptist Church in Shreveport, La.

She married Morris Davis in Shreveport in 1930. To this union, two children, Peggy Dean and Morris Davis Jr., were born. Following the death of her husband, she later married Robert L. Jones, and this union produced Robert L. (Bobbie) Jones Jr.

Jones moved to California and became a member of the Paradise Baptist Church in 1948.  In later years, she moved her membership to Victory to be with her daughter.

A medical technician, she worked at Cedar Sinai Hospital until her retirement in 1970.
Jones was a lady of dignity, elegance, courage and full of faith.  She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband and  son, Bobbie.

She is survived by her son: Morris (Ruth L.) Davis Jr. of Los Angeles; Peggy Dean (Arthur) Revis of Moreno Valley; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Inglewood Park Mortuary was in charge of arrangements, with interment in Inglewood Park Cemetery.
