Health and Wellness Summit

Venice, CA – The Beverly Hills West Chapter of The Links, Incorporated (BHWC) will hold a Health and Wellness Summit entitled “Links to Healthy Life Choices,” on Jan. 24, 2009, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Venice, 2232 Lincoln Blvd., Venice, CA  90291.  Admission is free and will include a heart healthy lunch.  Attendees must be over 18 and registration will be available onsite at the Summit or in advance through BHWC.

Obesity is the leading public health crisis among the minority community and the associated risks generated by this, such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, stroke and cancer, greatly impacts physical and mental wellness.  Based on the belief that knowledge is power, the goal of BHWC Links is to improve the health and wellness of the minority community through the development and sponsorship of programs designed to provide education and increased awareness on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Monet Daniels, president of BHWC Links, Inc. will lead the Summit and provide essential information on nutrition, physical fitness and emotional health.  The event is sponsored by the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Women’s Health, Washington, DC.

BHWC has a proud membership of African American women dedicated to improving the health and wellness of the minority community through education, empowerment and increasing access to health care providers, in addition to providing mentorship opportunities and scholarships to disenfranchised youth.
