MWD The Metropolitan Water District has created a new online vendor bidding and certification system called NETConnect, and any company that was registered on the site must log on (http://vendors.planetbids.com/NETConnect/NetConnectHome.cfm) and create a new user name and password. Businesses registered on the site receive bid notices from four departments with MWD that participate in the system–business outreach, construction, professional services and purchasing. In order to utilize this system you must have e-mail capability to download solicitations, documents, addendums and award information. Caltrans The California Department of Transportation District Four will hold an outreach event for prime contractors, subcontractors, small businesses, and disadvantage veteran business enterprises Jan. 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Elihu M. This event will provide information on 47 projects with will be advertised form bid in the next four months. LACCD The Los Angeles Community College District has a web site (http://www.laccdbuildsgreen.org) that gives business owners information on all the contracts that are available to bid on. The site also provides information on upcoming workshop the district holds, and other opportunities. GLAAACC LC Green and Associates and the Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce presents a business taxation seminar Jan. 22 from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the GLAAACC Community Conference room, 5120 W. Goldleaf Circle, Room 10A, Los Angeles. The cost is $25 for non-members. Entrepreneurs will gain a better understanding of business and personal income as well as get information on accessing business capital.
