Under a motion introduced by City Councilmen Jose Huizar and Tom LaBonge, partment managers in buildings with 16 or more units would be required to provide the Los Angeles Fire Department with their contact information. The motion would also require signs to be placed in a publicly accessible area, such as the front lobby of a building, telling emergency personnel where the manager resides.
The Fire and Housing departments were also asked to determine what benefits could be gained from requiring building managers to attend an emergency preparedness and housing law class.
