5th Quarter Concert

When R&B legend Isaac Hayes passed in August, the Angel City Classic team (ACC) wanted to honor the talented recording artist who was scheduled to perform at the Los Angeles Coliseum on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Concord/Stax Records plans for the ACC “5th Quarter Concert” to be reminiscent of Hayes’ Wattstax performance over three decades ago.
To that end, accomplished recording artists will gather to entertain the ACC audience with their soulful sounds for a 90 minute concert. The lineup includes Angie Stone, Anthony Hamilton, Lalah Hathaway, Tarsha Hamilton and N’Dambi.
The best part is that the concert is just one more exciting addition to a jam-packed day of activities–all covered by one ticket.
Farmers Angel City Classic will offer pre-game events beginning at 9 a.m. and include a career/cultural expo; Greek step show; high school band clinic and showcase; and youth football game. Kick-off for the main event, the Prairieview vs. Morehouse football game, is at 2 p.m. with presentation of the 2008 Farmers Angel City Classic King and Queen after the first quarter.
Half-time activities will feature the Battle of the Bands from the two competing historically black colleges, along with the presentation of scholarships.
Following the fourth quarter, and prior to the “5th Quarter Concert,” Farmers and Long Beach BMW will announce the winner of the car giveaway.
