Community Coalition grows

Affectionately known as the “House that Karen (Assembly Speaker Karen Bass) built,” the coalition headquarters will cost about $1 million once environmental issues such as retrofitting are handled.
Owning their facility takes the organization to the next level, believe officials, and gives the Community Coalition a permanent footprint in South Los Angeles.
Among future plans are launching a $100 million fundraising campaign to help pay their mortgage on the Vermont Avenue facility and set the groundwork for purchasing other locations and launching more social, environmental and educational programs.
