Bishop Charles E. Blake will be one of the featured speakers at the first ever Democratic National Convention Interfaith Gathering planned Aug. 24, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Well’s Fargo Theater inside the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.
Blake is the presiding prelate of the Church of God in Christ Inc., and is the long-time pastor at West Angeles Church of God in Christ on Crenshaw Boulevard. He is the seventh presiding bishop of the six-million member denomination.
The event will also feature speeches by Ingrid Mattson, president of the Islamic Society of North America; social activist Sister Helen Prejean; and Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Weinreb, executive vice president of the Orthodox Union. Readings from diverse religious texts, prayers as well as musical selections from artist such as Grammy-Award winning gospel singer Richard Smallwood.
