Dr. Frank Madison Reid III to preach Ward AMEs 106th anniversary

Dr. Reid was the Senior Pastor at Ward AME from 1980 to 1988. In October 1988, he was appointed to Bethel AME Church in Baltimore, Maryland, which at that time was the largest AME Church in the nation. When asked how he feels about coming back home to the church a lot of people feel launched his Ministry career Dr. Reid states, “It is always good to know that you can go home again. It means that there is a God who keeps the divine promise that Jesus made to the church and its members: Upon this rock, I will build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18)
Dr. Reid holds degrees from both Yale and Harvard Divinity School. This past March 2008, he celebrated his 28th wedding anniversary to his life partner, the anointed Lady Marlaa Hall Reid. The Reids are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters, FranShon and Faith, and one handsome son, Shane. On Oct. 10, 2008, Dr. Reid will be honored and celebrated in a “Double Decade Celebration” for his excellence in service to the Bethel Nation. He is the longest serving Pastor in the history of this historical Baltimore pulpit.
Rev. Dr. C. Dennis Williams, the current Pastor of Ward AME Church, is excited that Dr. Reid accepted the invitation to come back to Ward almost 20 years after he left. “The 106th Anniversary Committee was ecstatic when I told them that Dr. Reid would be preaching the Anniversary Service”, states Pastor Williams. Alton Glaze, General Chairperson for the 106th Anniversary, states, “Having Rev. Reid come back home to Ward is a blessing that only God could have delivered”.
The 106th Church Anniversary Service will be preceded by a Scholarship Gala on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, from 6- 9 p.m. in the Margaret Murray Fellowship Hall of the church. The Anniversary Committee will award approximately 30 College Scholarships to the undergraduates of Ward AME. Crenshaw Christian Center and Brotherhood Crusade are Corporate Sponsors for this black tie event. Gospel Artist Felicia “Nikki” Glisson will provide the evening’s entertainment along with the Ward AME Music Ministry which is led by the renowned Ron Lowe.
