BREATHE California of Los Angeles County (BREATHE LA), continues its series of discussions about clean air, the environment and healthy living July 17 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Los Angeles Press Club with the Pollution and Solutions Salon Series segment: “AB 32: What You Need to Know and Why.”
Open free to the public, this salon, which is the second in a series of six, will feature community leaders and stakeholders, politicians and others discussing legislation that passed in 2006. It mandates that the state air resources board adopt regulations to require the reporting and verification of statewide greenhouse gas emissions and to monitor and enforce compliance with this program.
The salons, which are planned throughout 2008, will be held in various locations and cover different topics. Other upcoming dates and topics are Aug. 21 – Zero Emissions and Carbon Footprints: A Green New World?; Sept. 18, AB 32: Climate Change and Southern California: What Science and Technology Have to Offer; Oct. 16, Sinful Behavior: Is Pollution the 8th Deadly Sin?; and Nov. 20, Healthful Living and Community Wealth: Clean Air, Lung Disease and the Economy.
BREATHE LA is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to the future of clean air and healthy lungs in Los Angeles County. Established in 1903 to fight the then-epidemic tuberculosis, the agency has long been a leader in efforts to improve air quality and lung health in Los Angeles.
