The Friends of the Hyde Park/Miriam Matthew Library, in conjunction with several community groups, is sponsoring a College Advisement Day, Saturday, June 21, 2008, 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Hyde Park/Miriam Matthew Library, 2205 W. Florence Ave. in Los Angeles.
The event will afford students and their parents, who attend urban middle and high schools, one on one counseling regarding courses they will need for college admission.
Observing that many capable students in urban schools were missing out on opportunities for admission to four year colleges, due to the lack of counseling resources in many of these schools, the Hyde Park Community Groups decided to replace the library’s traditional Career Day with a College Advisement Day.
