Women at Work hosts National Dinner

Beginning at 1 p.m. at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, 404 S. Figueroa St., several honorees will receive Women at Work’s Distinguished Awards.
The dinner to benefit Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, Texas, is an annual event sponsored by the Los Angeles Chapter of Women at Work. The United Negro College Fund does not support the school, a Church of Christ’s institution of higher learning.
Dr. Jack Evans Sr., president of Southwestern, will be the keynote speaker.
Honorees include Joyce Cathey, comptroller and director of finance at Southwestern; Mary Curl, Women at Work coordinator and first lady at Crenshaw Church of Christ; James O. Maxwell, Southwestern’s vice president-institutional expansion; and Roosevelt C. Wells, immediate past president of Alumni Association and board member of Southwestern Christian College.
Select music will feature the United Children’s Chorus with Rayvalline Harrell and Willie Norwood Sr., directors and Douglas Gibbs, instrumentalist.
