Election ballots

The Los Angeles City Council (LACC) approved a resolution Tuesday supporting any action by the county Board of Supervisors to count thousands of improperly marked ballots from the Feb. 5 primary election.
It is estimated that about 49,500 Decline-to-State (DTS) nonpartisan ballots were not counted.
Although DTS voters were allowed to vote for either an American Independent of Democratic presidential primary candidate, they had to mark on the ballot which party they were voting for, and thousands did not understand the added instruction.
