California’s First Lady Maria Shriver has launched a new program designed to help low-income residents in the state connect with a variety of programs and services that can help them financially.
WE Connect is targeting the 600,000 families in the state who are eligible to apply but do not currently file for the Earned Income Tax Credit. In addition to telling them about this credit, WE Connect will give information on the Child Tax Credit, the Golden State Advantage Card, Lifeline Telephone service, California Alternative Rates for Energy (CARE) for lower cost gas and electric service as well as low-cost auto insurance and 529 college savings accounts.
People can also learn about educational and job training opportunities as well as ways to afford higher education through the Icanaffordcollege.com web site.
Individuals can access WE Connect several ways including calling a toll free number (888) 369-7338 or visiting the Web site www.WEConnect.net.
