Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital initiates community health program ‘Know Your Basics’

Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital (MLKCH) recently announced the launch of the Know Your Basics Community Wellness Campaign on Nov. 22 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The six-month campaign will provide health screenings and enrollment events at 23 grocery stores, barber shops and beauty salons, farmers’ markets, shopping centers and senior centers throughout the South Los Angeles community.

Hearing set for Plan for a Healthy Los Angeles

The Plan for a Healthy Los Angeles (PHLA) is scheduled to go before the City Planning Commission today to make a recommendation to the City Council on whether this plan should be adopted or not. If adopted, the PHLA will become the first-ever health element to the city’s General Plan, elevating health as a priority in the city’s future growth and development and establishing a policy framework to make Los Angeles a healthier place to live, work and play.
