The City of Palmdale invites residents to participate in an educational workshop focused on organics recycling and compliance with State Senate Bill 1383. The workshop will take place on Saturday, May 11, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Legacy Commons, 930 E. Ave. Q-9. Attendees will be entered to win a family four-pack of DryTown all-access season passes.

SB 1383 requires all residents, businesses and multifamily complexes to separate food and yard waste from their trash and recycle it in a separate organics cart. During the workshop, participants will:

Gain insights into SB 1383 and its role in waste reduction efforts.

Engage with City staff and ask questions related to solid waste management.

Learn tips for effectively recycling organic materials.

Palmdale Mayor Austin Bishop emphasized the importance of attending the workshop, stating, “SB 1383 is about more than following regulations; it’s about creating a cleaner environment for Palmdale, curbing emissions and reducing greenhouse gasses. It is crucial that our community engages with this initiative by partaking in this workshop to gain an understanding of the regulations and to take meaningful action.”

All attendees will receive a complimentary kitchen counter food pail. Additionally, participants can enter a giveaway to win a family four-pack of DryTown All-Access Season Passes valued at $340. Entry opportunities include registering for the workshop (one entry), attending the workshop in person (five entries) and completing the Solid Waste Quiz (two entries). The giveaway winner will be announced on social media following the event.
