Rawley Duntley Park, 3334 West Avenue K in Lancaster, will get a makeover with a new playground and basketball court.

“Rawley Duntley is a highly used and well-loved community park,” said Sonya Patterson, director of the city’s Parks, Arts, Recreation and Community Services (PARCS)..

As  part of the development of the project the PARCS department held a series of stakeholder meetings to collect feedback on what improvements the community wanted to see at the park.

“The community overwhelmingly identified the playground and basketball court as top priorities, so I’m happy to say that those are the amenities that this project will focus on,” Patterson said.

The project will begin at the end of the month with new playground structures for children ages 2 to 5 and 5 to 12. The playground will feature new surfacing, wraps,  swings, slides and a giant walker that will allow people of all abilities to play together and be active. The basketball courts will be demolished and rebuilt, a project that is expected to start in May.

Patterson thanked the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District for its support in making the project possible.
