Laceration found on upper torso

Sheriff’s detectives this week began an investigation into the death of a young child in Lancaster.

Deputies were sent to the 43400 block of 57th Street West at about 10:55 p.m. Tuesday regarding a medical rescue call, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“Upon arrival, deputies discovered a male juvenile with a laceration to the upper torso,’’ the sheriff’s department said in a statement on Wednesday.

“The juvenile was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased,’’ the statement continued. “A male adult discovered at the location also suffered a medical emergency. He was transported to a local hospital and in stable condition. At this time, no arrest has been made.’’

Information on the boy’s identity was not immediately available at press time, nor were any further details released by the Sheriff’s Department.

The child’s mother was being interviewed by investigators, according to Fox11, which described the victim as 3 years old.
