Apply now for life-changing experience

The Young Legislators Program is in its ninth year and Assemblymember Chris Holden is accepting applications for the 2024 Young Legislators Program. The Young Legislators Program lasts five months, and will allow high school seniors in the 41st Assembly District a front-row seat to the public policy and political arena.

High school seniors must have a 2.5 or higher unweighted GPA, must live or attend school in the 41st district, and make a three-hour commitment to five monthly Saturday meetings beginning in January 2024. The meetings will require students to meet once a month at selected venues to learn about the legislative process, public policy, and quality of life issues.

Assemblymember Holden said of the program, “I enjoy this time of the year because we get to work with passionate students from across my district. I have no doubt this year’s program will again have a lasting impact on the students and I look forward to meeting the 2024 Young Legislators,” Holden said. In addition, students will discuss and learn about issues that largely impact the lives of Californians while enrolled students will further develop leadership skills.

Many students have positive memories associated with the program, 2023 program graduate Evan Lyons is no exception:

“Young Legislators was an amazing program to be a part of. Gaining insight into the world of government functions, all while making new friends along the way easily made it an amazing experience to have,” Lyons said. “Anyone interested in government or curious about how our cities and state remain operating would enjoy Young Legislators just as much as I did.”
