Oct. 12 in Lancaster

Join the Western Hotel Museum, 557 W. Lancaster Blvd., for some old-fashioned fun with a special Chili Cook-Off on Thursday, Oct. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m.

In 2022, the Western Hotel Museum relaunched its programming to restore community engagement at the historic building while serving residents and supporting local businesses. The Western Hotel Museum will also be hosting its monthly Sewing Bee on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Chili Cook-Off invites local restaurants to bring their best chili recipes, all competing to win the title of Chili Champion and a $250 cash prize. The Chili Cook-Off will also include a live performance from the High Desert Hot Strings.

As one of the most visible and vibrant links to Antelope Valley’s history, preserving and reintroducing tradition and history is essential for the Western Hotel Museum. The building serves as a historical hub, housing photographs and artifacts of the people who built, worked, and lived in early Lancaster.

This historic hotel has served the Antelope Valley community approximately since 1888, even through changing events and responsibilities. The various items displayed throughout the building provide a sense of nostalgia for present-day visitors. Photographs of early Lancaster, prehistoric and Native American material, household items from the 1900s, and more will give guests a memorable experience.
