Aug. 12 at South Bay Pavilion

School is in session– or soon to be and while we enjoy our fun in the sun it must like all things sadly come to an end. However, fear not because wonderful community contributions are on the way. Carson Mayor Lula Davis Holmes and Councilman Hicks have embarked upon a mission to help create a positive impact amongst the youth returning to school this upcoming fall.

Additionally, both Holmes and Hicks aim to assist families and children in need of essential school supplies by hosting a Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway event on Aug. 12 at the Center Court of South Bay Pavilion Mall beginning at 2 P.M. The South Bay Pavilion is located at 20700 Avalon Blvd., in Carson. The Carson Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway is partnering with the Carson Citizens Cultural Arts Foundation & Julia Banks Williams, Delta Foundation.

Councilman Hicks said, “Education is the cornerstone of our community’s future, and every child deserves the opportunity to learn and grow without facing barriers. By providing these backpacks, we hope to alleviate some of the burden on families and inspire our young minds to embrace learning with confidence.”

Davis Holmes and Hicks will personally hand out backpacks filled with thoughtfully prepared and essential school supplies to all children present. Both Holmes and Hicks have demonstrated strong, passionate, and resilient dedication to future leaders and development.
