July 4 in Lancaster

A motorcyclist was shot to death this week in a suspected road rage incident in Lancaster.

The shooting on the northbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway at the Avenue L off-ramp was reported at 2:57 p.m. Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers initially responded to what was reported as a traffic collision and discovered the motorcyclist, who was between 30 and 40 years old, had been shot. He died at the scene.

The man's name was withheld at press time pending notification of next of kin. As well, no suspect information was immediately available and no arrests have been made.
