See ‘Turning Red’ tonight

The City of Palmdale’s popular Family Movie Nights, featuring family-friendly animated films, return to the Palmdale Amphitheater on four Friday evenings this summer.

Coming to the Amphitheater’s screen are “Turning Red” tonight, “Puss in Boots – The Last Wish” on July 21, “Sing 2” on Aug. 4; and “DC League of Super-Pets” on Aug.18.

“Family Movie Nights are all about summer fun at an affordable price,” said Mayor Laura Bettencourt. “It’s also a perfect way to enjoy our beautiful Palmdale evenings.”

Tickets for Family Movie Nights are $4. Kids 12 and under are admitted free, but they must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are only available online at www.PalmdaleAmphitheater.com.

Come dressed as your favorite character and enjoy free family activities from 6 to 7:30 pm while supplies last. Parking is free, gates open at 6 pm, and movies start at dusk. Families can bring lawn chairs or a blanket to sit on. Food and non-alcoholic beverages are welcome at Family Movie Nights. All bags and coolers will be inspected at the gate. Alcohol and pets are not allowed. Snack vendors will be on-site for your convenience. The Palmdale Amphitheater is located at 2723 Rancho Vista Blvd.

Disney-Pixar’s “Turning Red” [PG] follows Mei Lee, a 13-year-old who suddenly “poofs” into a giant red panda when she gets too excited (which is practically always).

The adventure continues with DreamWorks “Puss in Boots – The Last Wish” [PG], as Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for adventure has taken its toll, setting him on an epic journey to find the mythical Last Wish to restore his nine lives.

In “Sing 2” [PG], Buster Moon and his friends come together again, this time to persuade reclusive rock star Clay Calloway to join them for the opening of a new show.

In “DC League of Super-Pets” [PG], Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime side by side. However, Krypto must unite with shelter pets with superpowers to free Superman when he is kidnapped.
