Xavier L. Thompson, pastor of the Southern Missionary Baptist Church, is organizing a citywide prayer meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m. in response to SB48, the FAIR Education Act signed into law last month by Gov. Jerry Brown. The law requires that all California public schools adopt LGBT contributions to the social science curriculum. Opponents to this law include the Christian community, families and stakeholders, along with the organizing effort of the StopSB48 Coalition in Sacramento.
