The United Methodist Church (UMC) has been widely recognized in the religious community for its progressive movements in diversity. With church establishments around the world and in culturally diverse communities around the United States, the UMC is also one of the few Protestant denominations to allow women into high-level spiritual positions.

Women have been in the background of civilization’s written history, playing the roles of mothers and meek wives. In the church, not a lot of attention is generally brought upon the women who were the fierce leaders, prayer warriors, and powerful persuaders.

A long historic split between the Sunni and Shia

Muslims across the world fall into different sects including Sunni and Shia (also known as Shiite). Then in America the Black Nation of Islam movement and other sects of Islam contribute to America’s religious soup. Most (85%) Muslims across the world, however, identify most closely with Sunni.

Black Americans defining their faith

In this day and age of a crayon box of religious and spiritual affiliations, sects and such, it kind of gets confusing when the whole religious discussion begins. The Pew Forum recently conducted a survey across the U.S. to find out that many Americans combine different faiths to kind of creating their own worldviews.
According to the study, 35% of Americans attend regularly or occasionally attend services of other religious faiths.
