A free screening of The Croods will take place Friday, July 23 at MLK Park in South Los Angeles. In fact, a free and safe Movie Night is taking place every Friday night this summer at various locations across Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson, who represents the city’s 8th district is inviting residents to MLK Park at 3916 S Western Avenue in Los Angeles for the once-a-week outdoor cinema experience with the goal of refocusing and reengaging South LA residents.
Movies in the Park is a longstanding tradition in Council District Eight. Organizers said it is critical that community members have opportunities to meet each other and build relationships that keep our community connected.
The event is free and will have food, popcorn, giveaways and everything moviegoers will need to enjoy the film.

Councilmember Dawson’s office said outdoor movies combine two things that community members love about LA, being outdoors with family and watching a great movie. Organizers said movie nights in the park are a great reason to visit local parks with your entire family.

Social distancing of six feet is required between all patrons too ensure the safety of all guests.
Families will be able to enjoy their movie in groups of no larger than 6 people. If a family has more than 6, staff will divide the group.
Organizers said don’t forget to bring extra layers because even though we’re in LA, nights can still get pretty chilly.
Moviegoers are encouraged to come early to secure a good seat.
Movies will begin at dusk.
