With back-to-school just around the corner for many school districts in the state, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is encouraging families to make a plan to get students, ages 12 and up, vaccinated before the start of school. The vaccination process takes about five weeks to reach immunity. Families in schools that start in mid-August or early September should begin the vaccination process as soon as possible so they are to be COVID-19 safe before the first day of school, according to public health experts.

LAUSD schools are scheduled to open on Aug. 16.

COVID-19 vaccinations for young people ages 12 and over are widely available and proven in protecting against severe illness, hospitalization and death. For the latest COVID-19 vaccine information or to schedule an appointment, visit VaccinateALL58.com.
