L.A. Controller Ron Galperin recently unveiled a new COVID-19 dashboard that maps and tracks vaccinations throughout L.A. County, including neighborhood counts of vaccines distributed by age, race and gender.

Building on his initial dashboard released in May 2020 as part of the comprehensive COVID-19 Resource Hub, Controller Galperin’s dashboard now includes virus case and death rates by city and neighborhood, and keeps an updated tally of the top 10 communities with the highest number of cases over the last 14 days.

The updated dashboard is the only tool at the City of Los Angeles of its kind, with data gathered from the L.A. County Department of Public Health and updated regularly. Users can navigate the data, which is fully interactive with the maps, or search by address to find vaccination rates, along with cases and deaths by community.

“We are at a critical moment in our fight against COVID-19 countywide,” said Galperin. “Getting our most vulnerable and impacted communities vaccinated as quickly as possible must be our top priority to ensure equity and keep new cases and deaths as low as possible.

This dashboard can help communities better understand whether the vaccine is getting out to neighborhoods hardest hit by the virus and identify infection hot spots.

“From what we’ve seen so far, it’s clear that people of color in economically disadvantaged communities who have borne the brunt of the pandemic need greater access to the vaccine,” he said.

The City is on track to provide more vaccine doses to Angelenos across its permanent and mobile vaccination sites this week, including its newest site at Los Angeles Southwest College.

Vaccine eligibility has also been expanded to include all adults, as of April 15. Anyone who meets eligibility criteria can schedule an appointment at carbonhealth.com/covid-19-vaccines/los-angeles.

“We are seeing more and more of our neighbors, loved ones and friends get vaccinated, as eligibility expands and vaccine supply to the City of L.A. grows,” said Galperin. “Doing our part to get vaccinated when it’s our turn brings us one step closer to ending this pandemic.”
