Metrolink, Southern California’s commuter rail service, has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).

The honor was granted to the agency for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2019. Metrolink’s report met the highest standards of the program by demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

“When you receive an award of this nature you can’t be anything but humbled by the recognition,” said Metrolink Chair Brian Humphrey. “We know we have an incredible group of professionals at Southern California Regional Rail Authority and are proud to have their work recognized.”

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the discipline of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

“I’m thrilled that our finance department’s work was showcased with this award,” said Metrolink CEO Stephanie N. Wiggins. “We work with transparency in all that we do and, in this case, it was not only noticed but truly appreciated.”
