“America’s Court With Judge Ross” has been picked up for seven more seasons, through the fall of 2027. The daily, half-hour syndicated courtroom series has clearances in over 90 percent of U.S. television markets and features former Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Kevin A. Ross.

“It’s been an amazing ride! Byron Allen’s unwavering vision delivered us to the viewers, and our fans still love what we bring to television,” said Ross. “I’m grateful to our dedicated team, and beyond excited to continue presiding over “America’s Court With Judge Ross” for as long as our audience will have us.”

Allen’s Entertainment Studios also produces and distributes “Justice For All With Judge Cristina Perez,” “Justice With Judge Mablean,” “Supreme Justice With Judge Karen” and “The Verdict With Judge Hatchett.”

Ross attended Gardena High School  and went on to graduate from Morehouse College with a degree in Political Science as a member of the African-American Greek fraternal organization Kappa Alpha Psi. He received his juris doctorate from Southwestern Law School.

After working as a deputy district attorney in L.A., Ross became a judge on the then Inglewood Municipal Court. He ascended to the LA Superior Court, spending seven years there and handling more than 60,000 cases, ranging from traffic and small claims matters, to sexually violent predators and murderers.

Just days until the election, Ross has joined the list of celebrities endorsing Joe Biden for president.

“I’ve never publicly endorsed a candidate before now,” said Ross, a registered republican. “I have a responsibility to constantly gain an audience, not lose them. Its often times better to keep your opinion to yourself. And yet for me, to take this step to endorse Biden and Harris is a big deal.”

The list of celebrity endorsements for the democratic ticket grows daily, including Ben Affleck, Cardi B, Halle Berry, Alec Baldwin, Levar Burton, Don Chedle, Mark Cuban, Vivica A. Fox, Anita Hill, Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, a self-described independent who never endorsed before.

“There seems to be this space that we’re in,” Ross said. “People are breaking norms and making it a point to say how they feel.”

Ross became a republican 17 years ago.

“Over the last year, I have been very discouraged by the party but I’m not interested in going back to being a democrat,” Ross said. “I have not yet changed my registration. Truth be told, I voted for Obama twice and voted for Hillary in 2016, but I have voted for other republicans in other races.

“I would consider myself a ‘never trumper,’”  Ross said.

Ross is concerned that young Black men do not seem to be excited about this campaign.

“What republicans are actually counting on is those Black men not coming to vote, not showing up,” Ross said. “There still doesn’t seem to be an understanding that this is your life, your existence.”

Ross said he has had conversations with his sons about current issues including police brutality and about how to act around the police. He recalled an encounter he had while attending law school.

“They just see a Black man in the car,” Ross said. “I was actually pulled out and searched. It was just a traffic violation.”

Ross knew the officers were violating his legal rights and told them he was a law student.

“They got a sort of kick out of the fact,” Ross said. “It was like ‘Let’s check him. Put him in his place.’”

Still, Ross does not believe in defunding the police.

“Practically, it makes no sense to me,” he said. “We need more of the right ones, not less officers.”

That is one reason Ross is working with the Guide Right program – Kappa League for young Black males between grades 8 and 12. The program focuses specifically on young men interested in going to college.

“If we don’t have Black men on campuses, as an organization, we become extinct,” Ross said. “We are at a point, a longing for more male leadership. We need to see more of that in our Black community. We want to redefine what it means to be hanging with with my boys.”
