Councilman Curren Price issued a statement on the cancellation of the Central Avenue Jazz Festival:

“Dear Central Avenue Jazz Festival family and District 9 neighbors,

With due regard to the safety and health of the public, it is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of this year’s Central Avenue Jazz Festival. The risk of COVID-19 spreading and restrictions on public gatherings make it impossible to continue with the in-person event.

We know that this will come as a tremendous disappointment, not only to the tens of thousands of jazz fans but also the exhibitors, vendors, and service providers who were due to attend.

This July marks the 25th Anniversary of the Central Avenue Jazz Festival and this is the first time the July event will not take place on historic Central Avenue. We are currently working on plans to celebrate our anniversary on the City of Los Angeles’ public information station Channel 35 later this year.

Please stay tuned for announcements regarding dates and times. More information will be released as soon as it becomes available. We look forward to celebrating with you.

The music will continue.”
