Free job prep workshops designed to assist homeless

A free job fair preparation workshop for homeless and justice-involved individuals will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at America’s Job Center of California (AJCC), 38510 Sierra Hwy., in Palmdale.

The event is designed to offer resources and information for homeless and justice-involved individuals who are interested in attending the second annual Business Services Division Job Fair, coming to the Chimbole Cultural Center, 38350 Sierra Hwy. in Palmdale, on Thursday, Feb. 20 from 2 to 4:30 p.m.

Participants will have access to free haircuts and clothing vouchers. Other free resources also available include a medical clinic; legal services; peer mentoring; budget and planning information; and tech and media training. Mock interviews will also be part of the training. Participants in the prep workshop must be registered for the Job Fair. Registration is available at www.bsd_jobfair.eventbrite.com   .

The free preparation workshop is presented by AJCC in partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.

The job fair on Thursday, Feb. 20, will feature more than 35 employers and over 100 job opportunities will be available in areas such as manufacturing, general labor, driving; office; customer service and more. Candidates must also register with CalJobs at www.caljobs.lacounty.gov.

Candidates should bring to the Job Fair an ID or driver’s license, several copies of their updated resume, and come dressed to impress with a positive attitude.
