Antelope Valley Hospital will host a community town hall meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 6:30 p.m. at Eastside High School, 3200 E. Ave. J-8, in Lancaster. The town hall is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Led by Antelope Valley Hospital Chief Executive Officer Edward Mirzabegian, the town hall will provide an overview of changes and future plans for the hospital, including information about state rules and regulations regarding healthcare facilities, and an interactive question-and-answer session. The town hall is expected to last 90 minutes.

Over the years AV Hospital has added to its current facility, which opened in 1955. Its last addition—a five-story patient-care tower—opened in 1988, which predates current earthquake building codes. California Assembly Bill 2190 requires healthcare facilities demolish, replace, or retrofit hospital buildings that do not meet seismic safety regulations and standards. The state of California has set a construction deadline of January 2025.

Antelope Valley Hospital is the only full-service, acute-care hospital in the Antelope Valley. It offers the region’s only trauma center; pediatric unit; inpatient mental health care; labor and delivery; Accredited Chest Pain Center/STEMI Receiving Center and Comprehensive Community Cancer Center.

It was the first facility in the Antelope Valley to become an Advanced Primary Stroke Center and offers the most experienced stroke care.
