Identification is made in South LA homicide

Authorities this week identified a young man who was gunned down in a drive-by attack in the South Los Angeles area, and continue their efforts to find his killer.

Mareon Jefferson, 19, of Los Angeles,  was shot about 10:30 p.m. Monday at 234 East 99th St. and died near the scene, according to the coroner’s office and the Los Angeles Police Department.

Jefferson was standing in front of a house when he was wounded several times by shots fired by someone in a black Honda Civic, according to the LAPD.  He ran to 231 East 99th St., where he collapsed in the driveway.

No suspect description was released.
