State Sen. Scott Wilk (21st District) has announced that the Senate Appropriations Commitee has deemed the costs associated with follow-up legislation for the newly created SCV Water Agency are small enough that the bill can proceed through the legislative process without further review by the committee.

SB 387 is a follow-up legislation to SB 634, which created the regional water district in 2017. The bill addresses technical issues regarding the consolidation of multiple Boards of Directors when there is a vacancy on the board.

“The SCV Water Agency has already won two prestigious awards for the inaugural budget,” Wilk said. “It is off to an amazing start SB 387 will streamline some of the issues that have come up since the agencies creation in 2017. I am pleased the agency is doing so well, and equally pleased this legislation continues to move through the legislative process.”

SCV Water’s fiscal years’ 2018/19 budget was recognized earlier this year by the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO) , and nationally by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), for meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. SB 387 will now proceed to the senate floor for consideration.
